Read Across America: March 2nd

Read Across America is a reading motivation and awareness program that takes place each year around March 2nd, which is Dr. Seuss's birthday. Sponsored by the National Education Assosiation (NEA), Read Across America enlists individuals and organizations across the country to plan and execute activites that will bring reading excitment to children of all ages. Pi Beta Phi is proud to join more than 40 national organizations as a Read Across America partner.

Each year members of Oklahoma Alpha look forward to dressing up as different Dr. Seuss characters to read to children at Norman elementary schools. Part of what makes Pi Phi's philanthropy efforts so unique is that our members have the opportunity to directly see their impact.

As our members continue to be inspired by literacy, we have our own twist on a phrase from a famous Dr. Seuss book, "Oh the places you'll go with Pi Phi," is a phrase that is heard through the halls at OU's Pi Phi chapter, This represents not only the opportunity to succeed given to the children's lives we impact, but also the places our members will go after being inspired to serve their communities for a lifetime.
